iRest® Yoga Nidra Meditation 8-Week Series

Tuesdays, JAN 22, 29; FEB 5, 12, 19, 26, MAR 5, 12

7 – 8:30 PM

FCJ Retreat and Conference Centre, 219 – 19th Avenue SW Calgary

Based on the ancient teachings of meditation, Integrative Restoration (iRest) is an evidence-based, transformative practice that leads to psychological, physical, and spiritual healing and well-being. People who practice iRest report reduced level of stress, depression, fear and anxiety, chronic and acute pain; greater ability to relax and enjoy life; improved interpersonal relations; and increased inner peace and well-being! For each of eight consecutive weeks, we will look at a fresh aspect of the practice. Following a check-in on the previous week’s experience, an introduction to the current week’s material and obtaining participant input, we will find very comfortable positions and be skillfully guided through 35 – 40 minutes of relaxation. We end with a brief check-in before returning to our daily lives.

Suitable for beginners and all levels of experience. More information about the iRest® practice below.

What to bring:

· A yoga mat or something to lay on, and optionally, a pillow, an eye cover, and whatever props support your body in relaxing completely.

· Wear comfortable clothing – no poses will be conducted, just simply laying comfortably on the floor (or sitting on the floor or chair, or standing if you prefer).

· For the comfort of everyone attending, please do not wear strong perfumes or scents.

Good to Know

Extensive research has shown that iRest effectively supports the healing process across a broad range of populations. Currently, there are iRest programs in military hospitals across the U.S., as well as in correctional facilities, hospices, clinics, schools, and organizations supporting personal growth and well-being. In June of 2010, iRest was endorsed by the US Army Surgeon General and Defense Centers of Excellence as a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Read more HERE.
