Winter Yoga Nurtures the Perfection Within

2012-01-29 17:12:09

We sense that there is some sort of spirit that loves birds and animals and the ants - - -

perhaps the same one who gave a radiance to you in your mother's womb . . .

Winter Classes

We already are whole, complete and perfect.

But we forget.

And then we act out of fear, loneliness, emptiness, anger, or any number of bodily sensations filtered through perception or thought process.

The result can be that our innate goodness is inadvertently disguised, even to ourselves.

This winter focus is on nurturing the perfection within

We gather as community on Monday evenings and Tuesday noons at Shaganappi Community, Wednesday evenings at Westgate Community, and occasional Monday afternoons at St. Gerard's.  There still is room in the Wednesday evening class at Westgate.  Please contact me if you are interested!

Winners of Winter Registration Incentives

Recipients of the perfect attendance half-price registration incentive this term are Karen Mott and Leigh Cunes.  Congratulations, yoginis, for your dedication to this life-affirming practice.

I, Lonnie, love to practice using Healing Energy and so I decided to draw the names of four early-bird registrants randomly this term to receive complimentary sessions.  Phil Michaud, Linda McAtamney, Wendy Burrowes and Gretchen McKay have or will receive a complimentary Reiki, or Healing Energy, treatment of approximately one hour duration.

Early Fall News

2011-09-18 15:49:26

It has been a couple of weeks since the last news post, because I was busy returning from SYTAR (where I was entirely BLOWN AWAY by the level of knowledge and phenomenal depth of yoga therapy being practiced in the world) and happily greeting new and returning students to fall classes.  Private lessons and therapeutic sessions continue as well.  Life is good, and I'm hoping you think so as well!

Body, Mind and Soul Yoga

Tuesday midday classes (11:30 - 1) at Shaganappi and Wednesday evening classes (7 -8:45) at Westgate have room for a couple more students for those of you who are looking for a safe place to stretch  your edges.  And I welcome drop-ins on a space-availability basis; just call or email a little in advance and I can let you know.  Both registered and drop-in students need to complete the registration form.

Also, on a different note, expert and author, Lyle McWilliam, will be in Calgary to promote the latest edition of his book, The Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements on Thursday, October 27th

Mr. McWilliam is scientist, and also an MLA of British Columbia and former Canadian MP.  Through his work on legislative committees, he saw the need for the general population to know what makes a nutritional supplement valuable and how to evaluate the multitude of different brands.  I encourage you to put aside that evening to attend.  Watch here for more details in the near future!

YogInsight Offering You MORE Expertise!

In May I spent ten silent days studying Vipassana meditation with Insight Meditation Society-trained teacher, MaryJo Meadow, and also completed the second professional level of Critical Alignment Therapy training with Gert VanLeeuwen of Amsterdam.

In August I spent five days practicing with and learning from Vipassana meditation teacher Kavindu of Mexico City, and senior Alberta-based international therapeutic hatha yoga teacher David McAmmond.

This week, from August 31 to September 4th, I am traveling down to Monterey, California with friend and colleague, Nancy Hong, for the 2011 Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research (SYTAR).

While there, we will be practicing with and learning from some of the world's most recognized yoga therapists. I am looking forward to honing my ability to assist people who, amongst other things, suffer with chronic pain, specific types of back and pelvic pain, "cranky" hips, stress, mental health issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression, or who are recovering from cardiac events or dealing with eating disorders. I cannot experience all of the many opportunities being offered, but Nancy and I will be sharing and comparing.

I am committed to providing the best possible yoga instruction that speaks to you, my client, as a whole, precious, and sacred person.
